How we handle your child's data

What we collect

• Account basics — your child's name, an optional birth year, and their reading level.
• How they play — the stories they start, the choices they make, and their progress.
• The words your child types into their stories.
• The hero they create — a name, a short description, and a goal they choose for their story character.

How your child's words are used

We use the words your child types to:

• save their story so they can pick it back up where they left off;
• measure their reading and comprehension over time, so stories meet them at the right level;
• help keep them safe — our safety checks read recent messages to spot a child who may be in danger.

We do notfeed your child's past story actions back into the storyteller. New chapters are written from the characters, places, and progress we track — not a transcript of what they typed. What does shape the story is the hero they create: their character's name and description they type, and the goal they pick for that hero, all personalize each chapter.

Keeping your child safe

If our safety checks detect a child who may be in distress or danger, we may keep a brief record of that moment so we can respond and, where appropriate, alert you. To protect your child, that safety record may be kept in de-identified form — with their name and typed words removed — even if you later revoke consent or remove the child.

How long we keep it

We keep your child's stories and typed words while their account exists. Removing the child deletes their account, stories, and progress (apart from the de-identified safety record described above).

Your rights as a parent

• Review & export— download your child's profile, progress, and consent history anytime.
• Pause — revoke consent to stop play immediately; you can grant it again whenever you like.
• Remove— delete your child's account and data.

You manage all of this from Your household.

We don't sell your child's personal information. Their data is used to run KeenCosmos and support their learning — nothing else.
